SUMMARY:Emotional Regulation & Social Skills - Week 3 (Tweens)
DESCRIPTION:Emotional Regulation & Social Skills: Could your child use some help with managing big feelings and impulses?  Are these difficulties interfering with their functioning at school\, home\, or with friends?  This group draws from Michelle Garcia-Winner’s social thinking curriculum\, using a narrative-based approach to these behaviors by externalizing them as “Unthinkables” characters\, or villains\, that your child will learn to combat – just like their favorite superheroes!  Using a group format where your child can connect to peers who have similar struggles is an effective and fun way for children to develop skills in these areas and build new friendships.  This is a great group for children with ADHD or high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder\, although neither diagnosis is a requirement to join the group.  Neurotypical children who struggle with these challenges benefit as well\, and groups are typically a mix of neurotypical and neurodivergent kids. SUMMARY:Take Charge of Anxiety! - Week 1 (Tweens)
DESCRIPTION:Take Charge of Anxiety!: Does your child struggle with constant worrying or anxious ruminations? Are their fears getting in the way of their ability to enjoy life?  This group will present the origins of anxiety in a way that children can understand and resonate with.  Understanding their anxious response is the first step to overcoming their fears.  This group draws partially from the Coping Cat curriculum\, teaching cognitive behavioral therapy skills that children can use with the help of a caregiver or on their own in order to manage their anxiety.  Accepting new clients aged 5-13\, kindergarten through middle school.  All groups are divided by age brackets of 1-2 years (e.g. ages 5-7\, ages 8-10\, tweens/middle school). \n\n\n\nWeek 1: Understanding Our Anxious Response: Our AmygdalaAt-Home Practice: Being “detectives” and identifying false vs. real alarms \n\n\n\nWeek 2: Exploring Our Triggers\, The F in FEARAt-Home Practice: Track my triggers – add to fear ladder if needed \n\n\n\nWeek 3: Introducing Mindfulness & The Vagus NerveAt-Home Practice: Breathing skills (“bee breathing\, box breathing\, star/finger breathing\,lazy 8 breathing\, “magnet arms”\, mandalas) \n\n\n\nWeek 4: Mindfulness Part II (bubbles\, mindful eating\, 5 senses mindfulness)\, The E in FEARAt-Home Practice: Daily Mindfulness\, Identifying anxious thoughts \n\n\n\nWeek 5: Challenging Our Anxious ThoughtsAt-Home Practice: Swat the NAT and put on your HAT & Inner Coach vs Inner Critic \n\n\n\nWeek 6: Somatic InterventionsAt-Home Practice: Progressive Muscle Relaxation\, Garden Yoga \n\n\n\nWeek 7: VisualizationAt-Home Practice: Safe Space Visualization\, Mindfulness Jars \n\n\n\nWeek 8: ACT – DefusionAt-Home Practice: Worry Balloons\, Leaves on a Stream\, Worry Time \n\n\n\nWeek 9: Sensory ToolboxAt-Home Practice: Choose a few sensory supports to use at home\, use DIY eye mask \n\n\n\nWeek 10: Anchoring – Worry Dolls\, The A in FEARAt-Home Practice: Reinforce your anchor \n\n\n\nWeek 11: The R in FEARAt-Home Practice: Coping Cat worksheets \n\n\n\nWeek 12: JEOPARDY REVIEW & PIZZA PARTY!

SUMMARY:Emotional Regulation & Social Skills - Week 1 (Tweens)
Accepting new clients aged 5-12.  All groups are divided by age brackets of 1-2 years (e.g. kindergarten/1st grade\, ages 8-10\, “tweens”). \n\n\n\nWeek 1: January 4th\, 2026Superflex vs. Rock Brain \n\n\n\nWeek 2: January 11th\, 2026Defeating Topic Twister Meister \n\n\n\nJanuary 18th OFF (MLK Weekend) \n\n\n\nWeek 3: January 25th\, 2026Introducing the Zones of Regulation & Identifying Triggers \n\n\n\nWeek 4: February 1st\, 2026Defeating Unwonderer \n\n\n\nWeek 5: February 8th\, 2026Gatekeeper: Expected vs. Unexpected Behaviors \n\n\n\nFebruary 15th OFF: President’s Day Weekend \n\n\n\nWeek 6: February 22nd\, 2026 \n\n\n\nPerspective Pete vs. One Sided Sid \n\n\n\nWeek 7: March 1st\, 2026Cool Q.
